Afternoon Update

Dad had another bad night.  He continues to get more and more unsteady and fell again last night.  This fall however, was a pretty bad one and he said his ribs were hurting.  We had a nurse(Mom calls her “Angel Angela”) come look at him and she said that it appeared that there was at least one badly bruised or broken rib.  Mom had nightlights in the room and a walker right by his bed but he opted to not use it.  We are trying to figure out what to do.

He ate a good breakfast and has already had a bag of fluids.  We are hoping these two things will help him feel better and increase his mental clarity.  We are not sure why, but he is very weak today.  He is still bleeding but not as much.

Mom and Dad’s Bishop came over this morning because he is going on a trip for a few days and wanted to see if they needed anything before he left.  Mom said it was a great visit and she is so appreciative of everyone and their support through this difficult time.

Alicia is up with Mom and Dad today.  I just got an update from her.  She said Dad is feeling better and is much more clear.  All he wanted for lunch was rice pudding (Jen has made a years supply for him because that is about the only thing that tastes good to him).  Mom told him that he needs to use the walker from now on.  Dad looked at her and said, “You’ll never know if I do or I don’t.”  Alicia said at one point Dad left the walker and was gone for a long time.  When they found him he said he was in search of his cane, but they knew he was just being stubborn and doesn't want the walker. :)

Mom asked that we put a special thanks to everyone who is helping take care of the pre-school.  It has been such a relief to all of us for Mom to have the flexibility of whether she teaches.  Mom knew Jenny would do a great job, but Jenny has exceeded mom’s expectations.  Thank you!  Thank you!

  1. I want to give more thanks for continuing preschool in your home! The kids love it there, and after helping out today I know why. There really is such a sweet spirt in your home. Dallin is learning lots and has lots to be thankful for evident by his prayer this evening! His prayers always include preschool, it's cute and pretty funny sometimes!

    "Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day. Thankful to goto preschool today and have a valentines party, and have candy. That we could go downstairs and have valentines snack. Amen"

GARY! Use your walker! There's no shame in using it. no one wants you falling down!
