Dad's Mission Picture

I was just sitting here working when a picture of Dad came up on my screensaver and  I thought I would share it!

This is a picture of him on his first mission.  He served in England from 1966-1968.  In addition to normal missionary duties, Dad played the guitar in a musical group called the New Missionaires. This group would go around the mission and perform for people as a way of introducing them to the gospel.  That was over 40 years ago and he hasn’t changed much!

  1. I love hearing the stories of Dad and Gary and The Missionaires. What a fun way to spend some of your mission. That picture I have seen many of times, usually with Earl standing right next to him. My mom and dad cherished their friendship with Gary and Raynee so much. They were so good to my mom when she was sick. I hate cancer. I hate that it took my mom and that it is hurting your dad. Praying for some good days for you. I am all about praying for miracles.

  2. You are right! He hasn't change much.

I met the Bengtzens when they were serving in France, and I want to share that they were just WONDERFUL!!! They were like my parents when I was studying so far away from home (I'm from Mexico).

    Thanks for sharing the picture.

  3. Nope he hasn't changed hardly at all! What a great picture!

I'm so grateful to the missionaries who knocked on our door in England and shared the gospel with us.

    Thanks for sharing this picture.

  4. I remember the 'missionary' well but never knew of the missionaires. I was one of his 'pupils' and he helped teach me the gospel basics in 1966. He had left our ward before I was baptised but we have kept in touch from time to time over the ensuing years. He surely is a very talented and caring man and we love him for who he is. He truly is a man without guile. Raynee too has much of the same selfless and loving blessings. We love you and pray for you each day. God bless. Love from Cliff & Betty Smith.
