Evening Update

Thanks Cory for the MOSTLY true post.

Today was another hard day for Dad.  He has had a lot of nausea and has not been able to eat or drink much for the last couple of days and was very dehydrated.  Mom was very concerned about Dad and did not know what to do.  She needed some help and Rick stopped by.  He helped Mom make some decisions, change the patch, and helped her feel better.

Jen and I showed up at 10:30 and noticed Dad was really not doing well.  Mom made a doctor’s appointment for after lunch.  We had a nice lunch but Dad did not eat.

At the doctor’s office we learned a lot.  The good news is that Dad has not lost any more weight…he hasn’t gained any, but he hasn’t lost any.  We learned that his platelets have not improved enough to do his next chemo this week.  He said that because of this he is going to change the chemo mixture.  We are scheduled for next Monday for the new concoction.

Dad’s overall wellbeing continues to decline and we are all concerned. Mom continues to be a rock and, as Cory mentioned, we are all impressed with how she is coping with everything.

Thank you again for everyone’s great comments – We love to hear from you!!!

  4. To Gary & Raynee, Teague & Jen:
Words cannot express how much we have been blessed to call you our dear friends over the past many years. You are all amazing people and have had a tremendous impact in our lives. What great examples of Christ like living you have been to us. We will never forget the trips to Chicago and Europe we spent together. It was always so much fun to be together with you. Those memories are cherished and will always brighten our spirits when we need it most. Our hearts are very full and saddened at Gary's current challenge with serious illness and pain. We love you all very much! Please know our thoughts and prayers are always with you. Thank goodness we have the Gospel and the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. It was just this past Fast Sunday that we reflected upon what a wonderful blessing it is to know that our families can be together forever. We know that our Father in Heaven knows the beginning from the end, and that a loving Savior will make up the difference in spite of our weaknesses, so we can have eternal life and exaltation together with our families. Gary & Raynee, you have not only been a pillar of strength to your sweet family, buy also to the Featherstones, and we love you so much for it. Thank you all for keeping us updated with this blog. The daily entries are much appreciated. We wish there was more we could do to help.
    With love and admiration,
    Kelly & Valerie Featherstone
